The best cordless floor washers for 2026

A floor washer vacuums and mops in the same pass with clean water, and keeps the dirty water separate — which is the whole point, and what a mop and bucket cannot do. We compare edge cleaning, the self-cleaning cycle that decides whether the roller smells, runtime against room size, and how flat the head lies under furniture.

The models we recommend

  1. Vexilar X7

    8.1/10

    ≈ 170 €

  2. Tineco Floor One Stretch S6

    180° flat · 13 cm clearance · 85 °C FlashDry · 40 min

Thirteen centimetres of clearance and three-sided edge cleaning: the head is the product here.

    ≈ 200 €

  3. Bissell CrossWave HF2 3845N

Best for: Large hard-floor areas cleaned in one go, and anyone who dislikes managing batteries

    7.5/10

    ≈ £180 / 150 €

  4. Dreame H12 Pro FlexReach

    18 000 Pa · 90 °C wash · 5 min drying · 180° flat

Ninety-degree roller washing and five-minute drying — the two specifications that decide whether the machine smells.

Best for: Hard floors in a family home — spills, paw prints and daily crumbs, cleaned in one pass

    7.5/10

    ≈ 200 €

  5. roborock F25 BX

    20 000 Pa · 180° lie-flat · anti-tangle · streak-free claim

Twenty thousand pascals in a head that lies flat, from a maker better known for robots.

    7.5/10

    ≈ £445 / 255 €

  6. Rowenta X-Clean 4

    50 min · 350 m² · dirt sensor with LED · self-propelled roller

Fifty minutes and a dirt sensor that colours the display red when the floor is worse than it looks.

Best for: Large hard floors cleaned in one session, where runtime is what stops you

    7.5/10

    ≈ £325 / 220 €

  7. Ultenic AC1 TriFlex

    180° lie-flat · 54° swivel · 0 mm edge on one side · vacuum, sweep and mop

A head that lies fully flat and cleans right up against a wall on one side — geometry rather than suction.

Best for: Open hard floors with furniture to clean under, in a household that dislikes finishing edges by hand

    7.5/10

    ≈ 200 €

  8. Kärcher FCV 4 Natural N

    8.9/10

    ≈ 300 €

  9. Bissell CrossWave C3 Pro 3555N

    0.82 l clean / 0.62 l dirty · hard floors and carpet · antibacterial roller

The one here that also handles carpet — and publishes both tank volumes instead of neither.

Best for: Homes with a mix of hard floor and rugs, where one machine has to cover both

    8.7/10

    ≈ 215 €

  10. Dreame H14 Pro

    180° lie-flat · 60 °C roller care · 5 min drying · app control

Automatic detergent dosing and app control, on the same flat head — convenience rather than capability.

Best for: Households that want the machine to manage its own detergent, on hard floors cleaned several times a week

    8.7/10

    ≈ 260 €

Which one for which need

Washing a large area in one go

The running time decides how much floor is covered before recharging. Below that, you clean in two passes, with the floor drying in between.

Actually recovering the dirty water

A washer that picks up badly leaves a wet floor rather than a clean one. It is the suction that decides what goes back into the tank.

A first try

These machines divide opinion: some people never let go of them, others go back to a mop. The most affordable model settles the question without committing much.

Who each type suits

Household with pets
The decisive argument: picking up hair and washing in the same pass. Check that the brush comes out without a tool, otherwise cleaning the machine becomes the chore it was meant to remove.
Large hard-floor area
Running time and the capacity of both tanks come first. A machine you refill three times for one ground floor is not a time-saver.
Flat
Storage and noise count as much as performance. A bulky charging station ends up on a balcony, and a machine on a balcony is no longer used.

The trade-offs to weigh

Running time against weight
A bigger battery lasts longer and is felt in the wrist after twenty minutes. That is this family's main trade-off.
Self-cleaning against simplicity
The self-cleaning cycle saves rinsing the brush by hand and adds a station, noise and one more part to maintain. Without it you have to do it yourself after each use — and not doing it condemns the machine to smell.
Edges against ruggedness
Heads that clean right up to the skirting are more fragile than conventional ones. In a home full of furniture, edge access is worth that fragility; on an open floor, it is not.

Questions buyers ask

Does a floor washer replace the vacuum cleaner?

On hard floors, largely: it picks up dry and wet in the same pass. On rugs and carpet, no — that is a different appliance.

Is a specific product needed?

The manufacturer's own is not compulsory but a low-foaming detergent is. Foam in the recovery tank rises towards the motor: that is a failure, not an inconvenience.

Why does the floor stay wet?

Almost always a saturated brush, sometimes a full dirty-water tank or a fouled squeegee. Recovery drops long before the machine complains about it.

How do I avoid the bad smell?

Empty and rinse the dirty-water tank after every use, and let the brush dry in the open air. A brush stored damp in its station smells within two days.

Do these machines suit wooden floors?

Sealed parquet, yes, at a moderate flow. On oiled wood or laminate with open joints, water eventually gets in and swells the boards.

What running time should I really expect?

The stated figures assume the lowest flow setting. In normal use, reckon on about a third less, and more if a hot-water function exists and is active.

Are the consumables expensive?

Brushes and filters wear out and are replaced once or twice a year depending on use. That is the real cost of ownership, rarely put forward at the point of sale.

Does a floor washer go under furniture?

The head's height, between ten and fifteen centimetres, decides what is left to do by hand. It is the dimension most often overlooked in favour of runtime and power.

What to remember

A floor washer is judged on its water recovery and on the maintenance it demands, not on its stated running time. A machine that picks up well and rinses in thirty seconds will be used every week; a powerful one that has to be dismantled will end up in the cupboard.
