The SE 2 Spot Care is a spray extraction machine sized for accidents rather than for rooms, with a 6.3 m working radius.
It sprays a detergent solution into the fabric, the brush or the pressure of the jet loosens the dirt, and the machine pulls the liquid back out. That last step is the whole point and the thing a cloth cannot do: the dirt leaves the room in the dirty tank rather than being spread across a wider area.
Six metres of hose and cable is enough to reach the back seats of a car parked outside a garage door. That single number is what makes this a vehicle tool as much as a sofa tool, and vehicle interiors are where spot cleaners earn their keep.
The most common mistake is stopping when the stain disappears. The fabric is then holding solution, and in three days it smells. Two or three passes with the spray off pull out a surprising amount of water — do them every time.

Different tools. A spot machine treats the accident — the spilled glass, the dog, the child — within minutes of it happening, which is when stains are actually removable. A full carpet cleaner does a room at a time and takes an afternoon. Most households need the first far more often than the second.
That depends on you more than on the machine. The technique that matters is the dry pass: after spraying and extracting, go over the same strip two or three times with the spray off. Upholstery left soaked smells within days, and on car seats the foam underneath holds water far longer than the surface suggests.
