Dirtbusters Clean & Protect 4-in-1

A five-litre low-foam concentrate for carpets and upholstery, sold in the format a spray extraction machine actually consumes.

Low foam is the specification

Everything else on the label is marketing; this is the property that decides whether the product belongs in a machine. Foam in a recovery tank reaches the motor.

The dilution decides the result

Over-dosing leaves a film that dries tacky and attracts dirt within days. It is the most common error with any concentrate, and the reason a sofa can look worse a week after cleaning than before.

The one caveat on the “protect” claim

A protector in the mix is useful on a clean fabric and unhelpful before a stain treatment, which needs to reach the fibre. On a specific mark, treat first and protect afterwards.
