If you are cleaning gutters, soffits, a conservatory roof or a first-floor wall, yes — because the alternative is standing on a ladder holding a jet that pushes back.
The safety argument is the strong one. A lance held above your head at full pressure has real recoil, and a ladder is the worst place to discover that. An extension keeps both feet on the ground.
The trade is control. A three-meter lance is heavy at the wrong end and much harder to hold at a steady distance, so surface damage becomes easier. Use the widest fan setting.
Telescopic versions with a shoulder strap are far more usable than a fixed tube. Check the working pressure rating — the long ones are not all rated for the larger machines.
